Project Challenge
Aging infrastructure necessitated replacing and updating the 4-leg signal at 29th and Washington. Right-of-way constraints and multiple buried utilities had prevented an update to the signal previously; this update required close coordination with each utility, verifying ROW, and TOC coordination for updating the signal controller. UDOT signal procurement process was also followed.
CRS Solution/Benefit
CRS updated the existing signal and equipment including the addition of radar equipment and LED bulbs. Close coordination was required with Rocky Mountain Power to increase voltage to the existing power system. Location of the signal was important because the signal could not effect existing infrastructure and the signal had to be designed and constructed within the existing ROW.
