Two intersections functioned as the main entrance to Providence City. Due to congestion, a more efficient solution was required to allow high traffic flow into the City. CRS designed the reconstruction of two low- functioning intersections with high functioning roundabouts. The roundabout designs included ROW survey and acquisition, document preparation, utility relocation, drainage and irrigation upgrades, lighting plan, striping, and signage. Additionally, the City Council sought to create an attractive entrance to the City. Therefore, raised landscaping was developed for the interior of the roundabout that allow the roundabouts serve as a welcoming entrance to the City, while allowing increased traffic flow and maintaining pedestrian safety.
