Project Challenge
New development in the city spurred the need for additional access to a large retail area. Dual round-abouts were coordinated to assure the development and retail facility had coordinated access. A large drainage feature constrained the location of the roadway connecting the round-abouts and ultimate round about layout.
CRS Solution / Benefit
Designed roundabout near shopping district, including preliminary design of a second roundabout and connector road through green field to assure future development coordination. Pedestrians experience a unique design at the roundabouts. The northern roundabout included coordination with future development to maximize developable space. Worked with City to optimize alignment adjacent to a river bed coordinating City and SITLA to maximize more land for development. CRS completed project on schedule over a 6 month duration.
